The Right Brain Shift of our Visual world

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-4-18-2014

Have you noticed that the world around you is becoming increasingly visually oriented in terms of the evolution of technology and how that is affecting your brain function?

In these times in which we live, we are seeing an interesting shift emerging from auditory (words, languages, their meanings and definitions) to visual (images). This visual perspective signals a more balanced emphasis because of its focus on the spaciousness of creation.   This visual emphasis also informs us that a shift is occurring from the left brain to the right brain.

Are You Full of Yourself?

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-4-5-14

“There is no room for god in those who are full of themselves.”
--Hasidic saying

“God” is a funny word, which is becoming increasingly funny in these modern times in which we live.  Whatever “God” is for you, whether consciousness or some personification of your mind, it makes no difference.  “God” is really just a word that points to the experience of true reality, and this quotation says that there is no room for the experience of true reality (of blissful consciousness) in those who are full of themselves.

Grumpiness

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-3-21-14

Most people are grumpy in the morning.  Does that include you?  If it does, the first step in dealing with it is to accept it and try to understand it.  For most people the only meditation experience that they have is their sleep time.  If you look at sleep time in terms of the five-fold cycle of the brain and human consciousness, you have peak experience and evolution in your consciousness followed by illumination, processing and integration.

The Cutting Edge of Consciousness

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-3-12-14

Would you like to be on the cutting edge of consciousness?  If so, why do you want it? The answer is that its cutting edge is where consciousness creates itself newly in each moment.  It’s also where the greatest amplitude of power is, where the greatest wakefulness is and where the greatest bliss is.  So if you want to be fulfilled, if you want to be happy all the time and be all that you are—joyously intoxicated, high on life, and in the maximum fulfillment that is possible for a human being—then you want to be on that cutting edge.  And how do you get there?  The answer is meditation.

The Misery of Content identity

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-2-12-2014

“I asked for all things so that I might enjoy life.  I was given life so that I might enjoy all things.”  (Unknown)

Why do you suffer in the involutionary cycle?  Because the involutionary cycle is based on the illusion of separation, and if you separate the two relative polarities—subject and object—you create conflict, and conflict always results in suffering.  The more you acquire, the more content-identity you have, the more content-miserable you are.  Content impermanence is conflict and suffering.  It doesn’t work.  Your toys break.  Your relationships fail.  Your friends change.  Your education is insufficient.  It’s impermanent … it’s illusion … and it’s not fun.  And when you are broken within your content-identity, you come knocking on my door.

Awakening - Resurrection from Death.

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-2-1-2014

Most everyone in the West has been enculturated into the religious traditions of Easter, which has to do with resurrection and life.  Religions simply say that it is resurrection from death to life that denotes deity.

Does this mean that unless you can arise from the death of your physical body you cannot be god?  Or is it that such supernatural, meta-normal experiences denote divinity?  Where does that leave most of the rest of us who obviously cannot resurrect from death into the continuation of life?

What Is Your Essence?

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-4-29-2014

Do you really feel one with everything or is this just a concept for you?

Even though it is easy to see other human beings, for the most part, we still do not recognize that we share and are empowered by the same life force.  We do not recognize consistently our unity of essence.  When we take this beyond human beings, beyond the world of what we regard as living things, it becomes even more difficult to recognize oneness.

Pilgrimage to the Place of the Wise

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-4-10-14

“Pilgrimage to the place of the wise is to find escape from the flame of separateness.”
--Jalaludin Rumi

Most of you are familiar with Rumi, a great mystical poet.  In the above quotation, which is a good example of his holistic verse, “the wise” does not refer to those who are intelligent in matters of the mind, nor does it refer to those who conceptually understand the mechanics of consciousness and human experience. “Pilgrimage to the place of the wise” is based on the experience of the principle of balance.

Forget About Enlightenment

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-3-28-14

What is the most miraculous of all miracles?
Whatever is happening here and now!”
-- Zen Saying

The experience of source is the experience that we are having here and now.  There is no other possible experience, and even the illusion that there is something other than source is source.  Bottom-line, there is only one.

Who Are You Beyond Your Mind?

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-3-18-14

In other words, apart from the known and the unknown, what else is there?
Harold Pinter

From the limited perspective of the mental dimension, there is nothing more than the known and the unknown and the mind is experienced as the alpha and the omega of reality.  From a holistic perspective, however, there is much more beyond the mind.

Meditation and the Silent Mind

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-3-8-14

When the mind is silent, beyond weakness or non-concentration, then it can enter into a dimension which is far beyond the mind, the true reality.  Upanishads

This quote from the Upanishads dates back several thousand years. The Upanishads are part of the Veda, the oldest holistic model of reality.

Die While You Are Alive

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-2-20-2014

"Die while you are alive and be absolutely dead."
Then flow with whatever happens: it’s all Source.
~Bunan--Zen Tradition

Bunan’s quotation details the way to wholeness from fragmentation.  The entire holistic model of reality and the mechanics of actualizing it are contained within this quotation and, within its seeming simplicity, it expresses great profundity.

The Oneness of All Life

Written by Master Charles Cannon

blog-25-7-2014

If you are experiencing your presence you are aware that you are a form of life, a form of consciousness.  You are then aware that everything that surrounds you—all and everything that is an object to you as a subject—is a form of consciousness.
