Kia recently visited Washington DC where she met with the International Justice Mission staff and Gary Haugen, the organization’s founder and author of the book, “The Locust Effect.”
International Justice Mission (IJM) is a global organization that protects the poor from violence throughout the developing world. IJM lawyers, investigators, and aftercare professionals partner with local authorities to rescue victims of violence, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen justice systems.
IJM is also working to strengthen law enforcement through police training programs and has a field office in Mumbai, India as well as in 17 other countries worldwide. They were eager to learn more about Kia’s work with the police in Mumbai, and Kia will connect them to Tata Institute of Social Science, which has a Center for Police Studies and is including One Life Alliance on their planning team.
When Kia returns to Mumbai in August, she will meet with the IJM field office to explore collaboration.
Closer to home, Terry Lee, a Synchronicity community member, delivered ten copies of Kia’s book Pocketbook of Peace to Books Behind Bars, sponsored by Spirit Mountain Organization. These books will be part of a collection of donated books available to prisoners in Charlottesville, Virginia.
