“There is no room for god in those who are full of themselves.”
“God” is a funny word, which is becoming increasingly funny in these modern times in which we live. Whatever “God” is for you, whether consciousness or some personification of your mind, it makes no difference. “God” is really just a word that points to the experience of true reality, and this quotation says that there is no room for the experience of true reality (of blissful consciousness) in those who are full of themselves.
Most people are full of themselves. This, of course, is the ego-driven mind and the virtual reality that it creates. To be full of yourself is to be full of your conceptual reality. In one’s illusory reality, there is not enough self-awareness and, therefore, the limit of one’s perception is mental (conceptual). With limited self-awareness, the illusion of separation and difference reigns supreme. Everything appears to be solid and dense. Nothing is moving. Nothing is vibrating and fluxing. There is no unified field of perception, and it’s all because there is, as yet, not enough self-awareness.
Being immersed in the dream of virtual reality that one believes is true is appropriate in order to experience what we are not; for we live and grow and develop in a relative reality. What we are is always in relation to what we are not, and in order to evolve in relative reality (to grow) and to fulfill the intention in consciousness to evermore fully be itself, we must experience not being.
The ego-driven mind and its virtual reality in which there is minimal self-awareness reflects a robotic experience. If you are awake and have developed enough self-awareness to experience true reality, you will find yourself surrounded by robots acting out their programs. They are living within a dream, the expression of which is a virtual reality with all of its suffering. While it isn’t real, it’s okay. You understand that it’s appropriate, that everyone is at their level and growing at their pace and you allow consciousness to be the way it is in all of its play. You are compassionate for the suffering and the misery that limited self-awareness and the ego-mind creates, but you allow it simply because it’s what’s happening in the great orchestration of consciousness.
And yet here and there and everywhere, self-awareness grows. Awakening happens. As self-awareness progressively increases, little light bulbs ignite in people as they awaken from the dream and explore the experience of who they really are and what life is beyond the dream. So this old quotation is very true, “There is no room for god in those who are full of themselves.”
As you live in this world with the many levels of developmental evolutionary self-awareness that you encounter, first be grateful that you are awake and progressively awakening. Second, be compassionate for those who are still suffering, who are mired in the dream as is appropriate for them. There’s nothing wrong. There’s nothing right. There is really just the happening of one blissful consciousness delighting in itself. Let us maintain our focused awareness in this very moment. Let us continue to observe our existence here and now, and let us simply be the blissful consciousness that in truth we are and that all is.
