Most everyone in the West has been enculturated into the religious traditions of Easter, which has to do with resurrection and life. Religions simply say that it is resurrection from death to life that denotes deity. Does this mean that unless you can arise from the death of your physical body you cannot be god? Or is it that such supernatural, meta-normal experiences denote divinity? Where does that leave most of the rest of us who obviously cannot resurrect from death into the continuation of life? Religions are good at enslaving people by marginalizing them. They are egocentric, and egos live to control—to disempower. Through various beliefs and concepts they disempower their followers and maintain control. When you are disempowered it is not possible to resurrect yourself from death.
However, if you move beyond the limiting stories and look to the philosophies of the time in which Christ lived you see that resurrection is really about awakening. It is based on the premise that you’re already dead even though you think you are alive. Since you are not fully alive, you are the walking dead. The fullness of life, on the other hand, is the experience of true reality in the eternal now of its happening. Therefore, resurrection is actually a symbol for awakening.
Can you arise out of your slumber? Can you awaken from the dream and experience true reality? Can you become fully alive as life itself, as blissful consciousness? The concepts don’t matter. Neither do the limiting stories about who you are and what life is. What matters is your investment and belief in them.
Remember, a story is only as good as the experience that it delivers. If your stories are truthful, they will direct you to the truth. If they are fraudulent, they will immerse you in illusion. So look to your stories in this moment. Are your beliefs and thoughts in this moment pointing to the truth of who you are and what life is? Do they lead you to the fullness of life, to an awakening from the walking dead? If so then you have discovered the true meaning of resurrection.
