How to Fully Live Life

“I’ve stopped thinking all the time of what happened yesterday.

And stopped asking myself what’s going to happen tomorrow.

What’s happening today, this minute, that’s what I care about.

I say: What are you doing at this moment, Zorba?.....

I’m kissing a woman. Well, kiss her well, Zorba!.....

And forget all the rest while you are doing it; there’s nothing

else on earth, only you and her!”

                                                                         Nikos Kazantzakis

                                                                          Zorba the Greek

Is this not the contemporary version of the proverbial adage Be Here Now? To be totally present within the moment is to fully live life. How present are you within this moment? Are you fully experiencing the experience that is happening now? What exactly is the truthful experience of this moment, of any moment? Is it not that you are alive as a human being, that you are consciousness experiencing being human? And further, since there is only one, are you not consciousness experiencing itself as a human being? Such is the truth of unified consciousness, or wholeness, the experience which is implied in the adage Be Here Now.

To be fully present within a moment requires focus….. absolute and total focus. No distractions are allowed. Total focus delivers relative balance and balance results in wholeness or unified consciousness. It is the absorption of one. Such are the mechanics of Be Here Now.

Consider Zorba. His momentary focus is kissing the woman. To fully experience this allows no distractions. All is still in the consuming focus of the kiss. He is fully present in the moment, and when he does this, balance happens and wholeness results. The subject and the object merge into one unified consciousness. There is rapturous fulfillment. He is fully alive….. sourcefully empowered.

So also you must create the same total focus within each moment. You must focus on yourself as one consciousness, both subject and object. You must be source consciousness within the experience of each moment. In truth, there is nothing other than source. Therefore, if you are truthful within your experience, you experience only one.

The mechanics of Now are simple….. focus….. balance….. wholeness and fulfillment. All are contained in the Balance Position which you must constantly actualize. So, continue even in this moment with the creation of the Balance Position. Focus….. balance the subject with the object….. merge the seeming two into the truthful one….. delight in wholeness and be fulfilled. Just as with Zorba, the truthful choice is always yours.

Such would be an appropriate intention….. constancy in the Balance Position. It is no less than a commitment to be constantly balanced, whole and fulfilled. In truth, what else is there but sourceful experience?
