If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat.

“If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat.”

It has been aptly said that what we think is what we are… or that what you give is what you get.  In other words, we are the creators of our experience.  We are the cause of all our effects.  Our thoughts and beliefs are causative to our actions.

The Golden Rule came 500 years before the birth of Christ via Confucius.  It taught that we must do unto others as we would have them do unto us.  Again… within our relative reality… there is cause and effect… and what we give is what we get.  Therefore to feed the hungry is mutual self-interest.

My teacher used to say that when one is the president he should be wakeful in his treatment of the cook… because in the next cycle the roles may be reversed.

This week… let us bring our wakeful focus to this time-honored principle.  In all our interactions… let us be wakeful that what we give is what we get.  Be compassionate, kind, loving and honoring.  And likewise be wakeful of your thoughts and beliefs about yourself in the same regard.  Again… as we think… so we are.
