If you do not learn how to love, you are going to suffer.

“If you do not learn how to love, you are going to suffer.”
Eknath Easwaran

All great masters have taught that we are here to learn how to love.  Why is this so?  As the popular song goes… what’s love got to do with it?

The answer is that we live in a relative reality and there are always two polarities to our experience.  In this understanding… love is the opposite of fear.  While love is a most pleasurable experience… is it not true that fear creates suffering?

The key to relative experience is the time-honored principle of balance.  If fear is the default dominant polarity… then the emphasis of love creates balance and holistic experience.  So in truth… we are here to learn how to love.

It could be said that love then is a choice we make.  We can focus on our innate love and simply fill ourselves with it.  Has it not been aptly said that if you would experience love… be loving?  This is indeed the holistic truth.  Choose love… live love… be love.  In this way… you will relinquish all suffering.

This week… endeavor to increase your focus on love.  Open your awareness to the love that is your very nature.  Then fill yourself with it and flow it by constantly being loving… of yourself… and of all and everything that you encounter.  Also… observe your resultant experience… as your suffering proportionally diminishes.
