Running away from the immediacy of our experience is like preferring death to life.

“Running away from the immediacy of our experience is like preferring
death to life.”  Pema Chodron

True reality is only ever experienced within the here and now of its happening.  Thus it is termed the Eternal Now experience.  If we are not wakeful within the eternal now of life… we are experiencing a virtual reality created by the mind that dwells in the illusory past or future.  It could also be said that if we are not fully alive in each moment… we are predominantly dead because we are forfeiting the fullness of life lived in each moment of its happening.

Running away from the immediacy of our experience within the here and now of true reality is illusory escape via the egoic agency of the mind.  Such virtual experience provides an illusory security and safety in what we believe we know and can control.  It is fear-based and life-negative… and it is an ultimately unfulfilling experience because it is fraudulent.

This week… let us endeavor to live more fully within the Eternal Now of true reality.  Let us be wakeful that the only experience we ever have is within the now of life happening.  As has been aptly said… be wakeful and be free.
