Florida is back in the news. When a Tampa Bay Times’ recent review of 200 Stand Your Ground cases revealed “an uneven application” and “shocking outcomes,” a state lawmaker filed an amendment to limit the media’s access to case information, presumably because too much disclosure would not bode well for defendants.
This sort of fraudulent thinking is endemic to the spell of the American Dream where results count more than how you get them. Yes, we may trumpet integrity and honesty, etc. but, in practice, these are often just words. Policies and behaviors are bottom line based – what gives us the results we want?
How different to “stand your ground” by honoring core values, no matter how it influences the results. Let those results in all aspects of our lives reveal a genuine process, not a manipulated outcome.
