“That moment you leap free of yourself, the wine of the friend, in all its brilliance and dazzle, is held out to you.”
There is only one … one source consciousness is all and everything. It is from this truthful, holistic awareness that Rumi speaks.
To leap free of yourself is to relinquish the illusion of duality and separation. The experience of yourself as other than source consciousness is illusion and is not real. If you indulge such illusion, your experience will be fragmented and limited.
In truth, there is no other, and just as you can only create the experience of another through illusion (or pretence) you can also create the experience of truthful reality. The truth is that you are source consciousness existing as a human being just as all and everything is the same source conscious existence. Such is the profound unity of all diversity. Again, there is only one.
Rumi’s “wine of the friend” is sourceful bliss. If you create the truthful experience of oneness, you enjoy the bliss of unified consciousness. You are filled with the radical pleasure of truthful being. Such is the euphoric state of enlightening experience. Like all great mystics, Rumi speaks from this state of enlightened being.
Rumi further defines the state of unified consciousness in terms of “its brilliance and dazzle.” This unified state of consciousness is multi-dimensional experience that is subtle-dimensionally dominant. It is luminous consciousness that scintillates and sparkles and it saturates all and everything with its enlightening radiance. It is this brilliant and dazzling luminosity that is the mark of true enlightening experience. Such is the nature of holistic reality. It is the blissful luminosity of unified consciousness that all great mystics experience and describe.
This quotation reveals Rumi’s most enlightening experience. He lives within the truth of immortal oneness and constantly delights in the experience of the one and only.
