The Lie of Illusory Life
The easiest way to experience the virtual realities that you live and also the truth of what I am saying, is to simply suspend your stories for a minute. Let go of your beliefs about yourself, about life. If you could set your beliefs aside for a moment, what’s left? If your mind goes blank and is still for even a few seconds, what remains? What remains is pure life, pure conscious existence in a moment.
And life as consciousness requires no belief. It doesn’t matter what you think in terms of your existence in any moment. Lies require beliefs. Truth does not. An investment in lies requires a lot of energy. The more invested you are in your lies the more you diminish your power. Each time you relinquish a lie, you increase your power. You become more wakeful, more truthful in the here and now, the more you live in the empty spaces of life.
That’s why I like the spaces. In the spaces, there’s no mind, no belief. But human beings as magicians are very tricky people. Their whole identity is their magic, and they’re not comfortable in the empty spaces where there is no trick. If your trick is your whole identity … if your lie, your belief, your story, is your whole identity, who are you without it? It’s frightening! But the gateway to the truth is the empty spaces of your existence where you get to see that your tricky identity is just a lie, a fantasy, through which you forfeit the fullness of life.
